I found the silver metal piece in the Hobby lobby – this is called the “frame” and is the right place to add a small crochet piece in the middle (click the “frame” in the delivery list below to see where you can buy it). Even if I make mine blue, you can make yours any color you want because crochet thread comes in all sorts of great colors and is very cheap. You can make several mini mandalas with a ball of cotton thread.
